How long does it takes to be a Physical Therapist?

Well i was Microbiologist major and I totally hate chemistry, so I am planning to change Physical Therapist. My school offers the A.S. program to become a PTA but i would like to be PT. What are my option on what I can do a bachelors or should I start with A.S and the continue further education?
